BARREL CAMP 2024

Every year Barrel Camp just gets better and better and we can honestly say this was the best one yet ! 4 days and 3 nights of socialising, training, eating, drinking and general fun, had it all come together for the biggest Barrel Racing Event in the UK on Sunday for the Summer Show.

Lots of progress was seen throughout the training sessions, and numerous Personal Bests were smashed on the Sunday Summer Show.

Entertainment this year was the annual ice breaker games which was won by Jen's team, we still needed an ultimate camp champ so human cluedo found our winning team being 'murdered' 1 by 1 until just 1 left. Congratulations to Honour being the Ultimate Camp Champ 2024.

Friday night saw the barn full of line dancing as expert tuition was provided and Mary stole the show with her freestyling line dancing ! Saturday saw Kev Kendall come and join us for a few hours of singing modern and classic country hits, and allowing our camp participants opportunity to practice their new found line dancing skills from Friday.

The food was great throughout and having external caterers this year kept the party going and everyone well fed !

Onto the most important part, the barrel racing ! Each rider got plenty of time in the saddle, and plenty of opportuinity to train with both Luke & Sally. Learning in each clinic, valuable skills to take with them into the Show on Sunday.

The show ran smoothly and swiftly despite a huge entry list in most classes ! The standout class of the under 14.1HH with the top 4 being seperated by just 1 second ! â€‹

Mikey stormed to the top of the Hi Point table and walked away with the Hi Point trophy along with bagging the fastest barrel time of the day with a 18.204. Jen made it 2 years in a row with the fastest poles time, this time a 20.884.

Best dressed awards went to Eloisa for the overall Camp and Anna Turner on the Summer Show Award.

The points awarded at the Summer Show changed the national leagues drastically and we have a new Barrel Leader.

Click the links below for the updated tables and the times from the day.

George Parish joined us for most of the weekend and his pictures can be seen HERE. Definietly worth checking out !

Camp preparations for 2025 will be underway soon, and your feedback will be appreciated of what was great and what you would like to improve.

We are next in action at Sovereign Quarter Horses on 1st September for a clinic and show and then 21st September back at Lincolnshire. Updated leage tables can be seen below.

BARREL CAMP 2023

Thursday August 17th - August 20th

WOW ! Barrel Camp 2023 was A-M-A-ZING !

Our biggest ever camp was a fantastic event. 2 full days of training, followed by the biggest Barrel Racing Event in the UK on Sunday.

Lots of fun and laughs had along the way from team bonding games on Thursday (Congratulations on Mikey being crowned the ‘Ultimate Barrel Camp Champ’), a LIVE Country & Western band on Friday & Line Dancing on Saturday.

Couple all that up with plenty of food and BBQ cookouts, a camp fire each night and of course the annual ‘Spoons’ Tournament.

The laughs and smiles were seen all weekend long. A brilliant camp if we may say so ourselves.

George Parish was able to capture a lot of these activities with his camera and they can be seen on THIS LINK as part of his catalogue of shots.

The big summer show on Sunday had some amazing prizes donated by our sponsors. (CHECK THEM OUT HERE) including rope halters, a western headstall, horse first aid kit and many more vouchers and discounts. There were also the usual 4 Strides Awards & Rosettes.

Lots of entries for the show on Sunday had 15 riders + in each class, so the competition was fierce and close, take the international class where just 0.8 seconds made the difference between 6th and 11th.

Susi on Wilma bagged the Hi Point show award. She also snagged the fastest barrel time and Jen walked away with the fastest poles time. Thanks to all that attended either for the weekend or just the day.

We had many riders trying Barrel Racing with us for the first time, they did brilliantly and both instructors commented how much the riders improved over the days.

Check out all the times and results on the attached spreadsheet.

Planning for next year's Summer Camp is well underway and more details will be announced soon.
